The Akaushi breed was introduced to the U.S. in 1994 when 7 cows Namiko, Akiko, Haruko, Fuyuko, Ume, Dai 8 Marunami, Ringo 117 in addition to 3 bulls Shigemaru, Tamamaru and Hikari were imported and considered as the original purchase. Other original influence can be traced through the cows Himawari 245, Dai 3 Namiaki Ni, and Dai-Kyu 9 Kobai 73.

As you will see, this is not just another breed of cattle.  These cattle were carefully and meticulously linebred (which is planned inbreeding) to create animals that would consistently produce super-Prime carcasses for the Japanese beef market, a specialty market which puts high monetary value on such things.

Today, the cattle genotype is so stable they can essentially reproduce themselves generation after generation.  The unique flavor and fat profile of this meat is extraordinary.  The scientific data on Akaushi beef shows it is higher in its ratio of monounsaturated fats to saturated fats than the USDA standards measured in chicken and fish.  It also sports a slightly higher amount of conjugated linoleic acid, known as CLA.   It is very tender, very rich and yet somewhat delicate, especially for beef.
