Our Story

The journey to full blood Akaushi was something that was always on our radar, but to have it become a reality was somewhat unexpected. The farm started out with a handful of commercial cows that developed into our percentage Akaushi crosses, retaining heifers and breeding up. We stock our personal freezer with full blood beef and wanted to provide that same experience for our customers. While the Akaushi flavor of F1 carcasses is 100% of the time evident, the inconsistencies from one to the next via the eye test with respect to marbling wasn’t something I wanted to stress about. Limited data with F2’s showed, with just one more cross, we were gaining ground on consistent prime product. With some encouragement we purchased our first two fullblood embryos and implanted them in the Spring of 2020. During the Summer of 2020 we purchased our first fullblood bred heifer, and shortly after that we purchased another set of 6 fullblood embryos. Fast forward to the Fall of 2020 with a fullblood calf on the ground we took the next step to flush our own embryos. December 28, 2020 marked the first embryo transfers using our own cows as donors/recips and the beginning of what has become Skyview Wagyu. Since then, we have sought after cows with genetics as close to the original imports that we could purchase and have begun breeding them back to original sires that compliment each cow. Alas, we may have had a breakthrough that we can build around and take our genetics as well as functionality to the next level.
